The economy, and general cost of living increases have pushed shipping charges to the point of becoming a luxury service. A luxury akin to flying first class, or drinking a bottle of Chateau Margaux Margaux....
Ok, maybe not THAT luxurious. We never wanted the leipzig cigar, or the malini egg to be a luxury item. We want them in the workers hands for a fair price. The cost of food and gas can fluctuate but I've never heard of the U.S. postal service lowering shipping costs. Until we can find a way to handle international shipments we have ceased most international shipping. The cheapest way to ship international is USPS first class shipping. Unfortunately this shipping option does not track items door to door and offers NO insurance! If the package is lost in transit, the seller will need to refund the buyer, and will lose the money and the product. If the seller decides to re-ship items, now the seller loses even more money paying for shipping all over again as well as more unpaid stock, meanwhile taking a chance that the same issue will happen again. This is acceptable if you're a large business. Mom & Pops can't keep taking a hit like this. Priority International shipping offers full tracking and insurance over $50 is extra. The cost has become prohibitively expensive! Insurance ensures we can fight to get money refunded when packages are lost or damaged. However, if we sell a $22 Malini egg to a customer in Germany, do they want to pay $68 to ship? It has become such a fragile time for small businesses, and Boutique style shops that want to offer reasonably priced QUALITY items. The inhibitory fees to pay by credit card, and fees for international currency conversion are exorbitant. For now we will continue to ship to UK, and current customers who have successfully ordered in the past. We will also consider shipping larger international orders on a case by case basis. If you can, I recommend reaching out to magician friends, get a group order together and share the shipping costs. Thanks for understanding!
