The Ravioli Magnet (And Why We Changed It)
For years, our felt covered holdout magnets have been made the same way - high quality doubled rare earth neodymium magnets, wrapped edge to edge in 100% wool felt. Not craft store felt. Not synthetic. Real, undyed, natural wool felt made in Germany. Organic. Sustainable. Made to last. Beautiful to work with.
They’ve served magicians well.

But when you build things by hand, you’re always noticing little moments. How something grips. How it installs. Who is using it and how. What changes or improvements could be helpful. And we listen to feedback too!

We started building a new version with a lip all the way around the edge. Instead of the felt meeting perfectly flat edge to edge, the construction now creates a soft perimeter ridge like a little sealed pillow.
It does three important things:

First, it gives your fingers something to find. That subtle edge makes placement and retrieval more confident, especially under pressure.
Second, it protects the felt from wear along the sides.
And third - this is the big one - it allows you to pin or sew the magnet into place.
That may not sound dramatic. But for a working pro who wants a hefty holdout permanently installed in a costume, apron, or jacket lining, that changes everything.
This version doesn’t replace the original. It evolves it.

Inside, it’s still what you expect from us: a doubled rare earth neodymium magnet of the highest quality. Quiet. Strong. Reliable. Covered in genuine German wool felt. No shortcuts.
