We’re excited to introduce a new addition to the Steve Myers Magic family: Rick, Jen’s father and a skilled craftsman with a diverse background. After 20 years of managing operations at White Marsh Pep Boys, Rick “retired” and went to work at Peninsula Total Car Care. After assisting in their operations, Rick has retired again from the corporate world, but not from using his hands!
His career journey started in a very different place, spending 25 years as a chef, mostly working in the dinner theater world. While his culinary skills were top-notch, it was his time spent building sets and working with his hands that sparked his passion for craftsmanship. Over the years, Rick’s hands-on experience in set construction has given him an eye for detail and a knack for building things that blend both function and artistry - qualities that are perfect for the world of magic prop making. But that’s not all. Rick is a true jack of all trades, having spent time repairing instruments and developing an impressive skill set in various trades. It’s this blend of practical skills, creativity, and problem-solving that makes him such a great fit to support Steve in building the high-quality, handmade magic props that our customers have come to rely on. As our business continues to grow, we can’t keep up with the demand on our own. That’s where Rick comes in, learning the craft of putting magic into the prop making under the guidance of Steve, who brings 40 years of magic expertise. With Rick on board, we’ll not only continue providing the same level of care and attention to detail that’s made Steve Myers Magic a trusted name in the magic community, but we’ll also have the flexibility to expand into new and exciting props. We’re thrilled to have him as part of the team and look forward to the magic we will create together. We’ve always promised handmade props, and that will never change. Thanks for your continued support at SMM!
