8-31 is significant because, well, it's my Birthday! But wait, there's more! In 2002 I had a baby on my birthday! So my youngest son, Matt shares this special occasion. What are the chances? Well, I guess 1 in 365! 8-31 also has another cool meaning. 8 letters, 3 words, 1 meaning... "I Love You" I turned 50. And no doves exploded from a cake. No top hats were lit on fire in celebration. Just close family, pizza, some ice cream cake and a magic show! But here’s the thing: I wouldn’t change a second of it. I’m not a magician. I don’t make rabbits vanish or people float (unless you count that air mattress incident). But for years, I have worked behind the scenes on nearly every single project with Steve. I have studied hard and paid attention. I've learned about wood, rubber, plastics, hinges, Abbott, Dai Vernon, Thurston, Fakini, OMS, and understand the difference between a hot and a cold load. We’ve spent SO many hours talking ideas in magic. Discussing what magic needs, and how we can contribute. In between all that, we've raised a family and worked a f/t job too. And somewhere along the way, I blinked… and turned 50. So what does 50 look like? I still get excited when a magician sends us a wild idea that seems physically impossible. I still find excitement in packing orders! I still love every single weird, wonderful part of this magical life we've built. But also: I now have readers on every flat surface. I stretch my back after every order pack up like I’ve just bench-pressed a rhino. And I find myself reflecting more, not just on what we make, but on why we do it. The real magic? It’s the people. We’ve had the honor of working with magicians from all over the world — from Vegas headliners to birthday party wizards to passionate hobbyists just starting out. Each one brings a unique spark to the craft, and getting to support that? It’s pure joy. Our props have ended up in theater shows, cruise ships, kids' hospitals, the streets of L.A., black-box venues, and even escape rooms! I have crossed my fingers and prayed a package would make it in time for a show in Austria and I have scratched my head wondering where is Cyprus! Every project we’ve taken on, we’ve done with love, sweat, and an occasional meltdown when something wouldn’t line up by 1/16 of an inch. And now, at 50, I’m still in it. Still curious. Still talking magic with Steve. Still packing your orders and trying to find the coolest freebies we can afford! About that fake ice cream bar...To celebrate this milestone, we decided to do a sale on one of our most delightful hand made creations: The fake ice cream bar for magicians. Why? Because it’s funny. Because I turned 50. Because I needed an excuse to make people smile with me today. And because I genuinely believe the world could use more comedy… and more convincingly fake desserts. You can check out the birthday sale below! It runs for 1 day, and no, you still can’t eat it. What’s next? More props. More creativity. More collaborating with brilliant, strange, inspiring people like you. And maybe just maybe a couple of new foody magic coming VERY soon! Thanks for being part of this wild journey. Whether you’ve been a client, collaborator, cheerleader, or one of our biggest supporters - I appreciate you. Here’s to MY 50 magical years and whatever we come up with next. Much love, Jen
